You will have 20 minutes to plan, write and revise an essay about the topic below. Your response will be judged on how well you develop a position, organize your ideas, present supporting details, and control the elements of standard written English. You should write 200-300 words. Some people think that students in single-sex schools perform better academically. Others, however, believe that mixed schools provide children with better social skills for adult life. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

While many individuals claim that co-ed schools give pupils better social skills for the future, some argue that students in male- or female-only schools have better prospects of academic success. Both of these viewpoints will be discussed in this essay, though the author is in favour of a mixed-sex school. Undoubtedly, there are less distractions at single-sex institutions. This is due to the fact that students would not be distracted by classmates of the other sex if a school only had boys or girls, allowing them to concentrate on their studies. But since these pupils can still interact with the opposite gender after school, they will inevitably encounter it. As a result, single-sex schools cannot promise improved academic performance and outcomes. On the other hand, pupils attending mixed-gender schools have greater opportunities to interact with people of the other sex. In other words, social skills are developed in youngsters early on because they learn how to deal with others of different genders. Additionally, mixed-gender classrooms provide children the chance to resolve problems with the opposite gender, which improves their problem-solving abilities. For instance, both a boy and a girl must learn how to handle conflict when it arises between them. Students will gain more if they can acquire this lesson sooner because it must be learned sooner or later. Last but not least, mixed schools give children a glimpse into a world where both genders coexist. Students can learn specifically in a natural setting where boys and girls must learn how to communicate with one another. Finally, I would agree that there are a few modest benefits to single-sex schools. Despite this, merged schools undoubtedly provide better support for pupils and teach students how to interact with others. I firmly believe that mixed-gender classrooms will benefit students' professional, social, and adult lives.
