PTE Listening Part 8- Sample 3: Summarize The Spoken Text

The earliest pyramidal structures were built by the Mesopotamians and were known as ziggurats, each of which was a part of a complex temple and was constructed for religious purposes. There are not many remains of the structures as they were built of sun-dried mud-brick. However, this is not the case with Egyptian pyramids, which are also the most famous pyramids in the world. These were huge structures constructed of brick or stone, and most of them had a polished and reflective limestone surface which also gave them a shining surface. As per the archeological evidence, the Egyptian pyramids were first built somewhere around 2700 BC and continued to be made until 1700 BC. In fact, the Great Pyramid of Giza is also one of the largest pyramids in the world. While most of the pyramids are said to be associated with Egypt, the truth is somewhat different as the highest count of these is found to be in the nation of Sudan, where around 220 pyramids have been found till date. Known as Nubian Pyramids, the pyramids in Sudan are at a steeper angle than the Egyptian ones and are also the latest to be built, in around 200 AD. Linked to God Ala, who was believed to reside at the top of them were the Nsude Pyramids, which lie in the country of Nigeria. Here the groups of five structures lay parallel to each other and at the top of each was placed a stick to represent the residence of the God.
