PTE Listening Part 7- Sample 10: Multiple Choice Question Single Answer

Around the 1950s, whenever a call could not be completed either because the number was not assigned, faced some technical issues, or simply got disconnected, the call used to get transferred to an intercept operator who informed the caller. Around two decades later, the service was modified and turned into an Automatic Intercept System that automatically chose and presented an appropriately intercepted message. The numbers which were disconnected and had a declined call rate were reassigned to new users. This method of interception was common in North America, while in other regions a message was recorded for the unassigned or disconnected numbers. What is the purpose of the speech? To inform about technical issues To inform about Automatic Intercept System To inform about appropriately intercepted message To inform about method of interception Answer: To inform about method of interception
